Boston collection – Case study

Karen Horwood already had a generously spacious kitchen but the design had become outdated, whilst she also felt that her living room was too small. Karen took the decision to completely transform the downstairs floor of her home by swapping over the two rooms. The result was a brand new, sophisticated kitchen which was the ideal size and style.

When Karen first purchased her house in 1990 as a small 2-bedroom bungalow. Many years later, Karen has worked wonders and transformed once a small space into an incredible 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom house.

Continuing with her renovation projects, Karen chose to focus her attention to the ground floor of her home. Karen knew she wanted a classic kitchen that would complement the look and feel of her home, but would deliver the wow-factor. As such, she turned to her nearest Optiplan Kitchens showroom for some expert advice on making her dream home, a reality.

Jamie, showroom manager at the Reading showroom, took Karen’s needs on board and suggested a number of style options. Ultimately, the choice was made to go for the Boston collection, which is a classic shaker style kitchen with silver-grey and chalk-white cabinets.

Karen’s new kitchen, having swapped over with the living room, now opens up into the conservatory, creating a bright and fresh feel. A kitchen island has also been added and strategically positioned in the centre of the space to connect both the kitchen and the conservatory for an open, seamless flow.

Further features to the kitchen include a traditional AGA cooker, glass door cabinets, and an American-style fridge-freezer.

The Boston collection offers value with practical style. Functionality is at the heart of this collection with vinyl wrapped doors, making it easy to maintain and keep clean.

Reflecting on her experience of working with Optiplan Kitchens, Karen said: “This was a huge project, and every aspect of our experience with Optiplan Kitchens was exceptional. The showroom manager at the Reading branch, and the rest of the team, helped us to create our dream kitchen. They really listened to our needs and advised us on what would work best. They understood our requirements and were still able to stick to the budget. Plus, the tradespeople were all so friendly and very skilled, making it a smooth experience.”
