Give Your Kitchen a Break: Our Favourite Places to Eat Around Farnham

Farnham is an incredibly beautiful and historic market town; with a fascinating history and a lively arts scene, it also boasts a number of great places to eat. With a bunch of really good restaurants and pubs in the town itself there are also some amazing gastro pubs scattered around the idyllic countryside surrounding the town. With one of our most popular kitchen showrooms located in Farnham, we asked our local employees their favourite places to head to for a few drinks and a bite to eat, so that on those days when you can’t bear to face your kitchen worktops, you know where to go and relax.

Nestled between Farnham and the Devil’s Punch Bowl, this cosy pub is an easy 10-minute drive from Farnham town, and is extremely popular with locals as well as the resident’ of the accompanying hotel.

Bel & the Dragon is exactly what you look for in a pub – intimate and atmospheric, while still providing plenty of space and a good buzz. The menu is packed with classic comfort pub grub, but done with flair. So while you’ll see Shepard’s Pie on the menu, that will be a pie filled with duck, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic confit. The group’s head chef Ronnie Kimbugwe has created a menu using local, sustainable and quality ingredients that play on classic British dishes, and they are all well worth a try.

Found in Lower Froyle, Alton (a 10-minte drive from Farnham) The Anchor Inn is surrounded by beautiful Hampshire countryside. This unique Inn, packed with English quirks and charm, also boasts a fantastic pub. While it has a huge selection of local ales, beers, artisan spirits and an incredible wine selection, it is the food that is the main attraction.

Showcasing the best of British food, it uses only fresh, local and seasonal produce sourced from surrounding neighbours and suppliers, with vegetables coming from Secretts Farm and meat from Hampshire’s Froyle Estate. As all of their dishes are made using fresh seasonal produce, and so the menus change frequently. However, it’s a fair bet to expect British classics such as lamb and rosemary pie, a range of gourmet burgers and incredible local sirloin.

Their desserts are especially delicious, with their latest sample menu including the following options:

  • Passion fruit cheesecake, white chocolate Chantilly, almond
  • Carrot and cinnamon sponge, coffee ice cream
  • Banana & peanut bread and butter pudding, praline ice cream
  • Chocolate orange mousse cake, crème fraiche ice cream
  • Rhubarb panna cotta, ginger biscuit, lemon
