Does your home fill you with happiness?
One of the biggest contributors to living a happy life is the state of our homes. Kingfisher, a British multinational retailing company, recently teamed up with The Happiness Research Institute to unveil a major new study into the impact of our homes on our overall happiness and well being. This research builds on the belief that our homes shape our lives, so from a bathroom remodel to a kitchen renovation, read on to discover the key to unlocking happiness…
1. Emotional conditions
The research reveals that there are five core emotions that result in a happy home: Pride, Identity, Comfort, Safety and Control. However, pride is by far the most significant as it counts for 44% of the emotions that contribute to how happy we are with our home. Ask yourself; are you proud of your home? If not, maybe it’s time to consider revamping or adding a special touch to it.
2. Home improvements
Did you know 74% of people that have an interest in home improvements and spend time working on them are happier in their homes than those who don’t? Therefore, a large factor of our happiness lies with making proactive improvements to our homes on a regular basis. So why not take some time out to begin improving your home and showcase your inner passion for design?
3. The room that impacts your happiness most
The Kingfisher research reveals that the biggest boost of happiness comes from renovating the kitchen. Whilst the bathroom comes in second, a kitchen renovation takes the number one spot impacting our happiness more than any other room in the house. Consider giving your kitchen a makeover, with stylish cabinetry, the latest appliances and sleek worktops to unveil a happier you.
4. A kitchen renovation
The stats show that one in four of us have renovated our kitchen and 82% of us who have renovated our kitchens are happy with our homes. You can’t argue with facts so is it time you renovated your kitchen? We offer a wide range of classic and contemporary collections to suit your individual style.
