Nothing says Christmas-time like a big family get together. So whether you’re throwing a sophisticated soiree or hosting a stylish dinner party, you’ll want to ensure your guests leave feeling like they’ve had an amazing time. Follow our top tips on hosting the perfect party.
- It’s all about the prep
Get as much done as you can beforehand so that you feel calm and collected on the day of the party. Clean and tidy the house, lay the table with any decorations and have drinks chilling the in the fridge so they’re chilled when guests begin to arrive.
- Stock up on drinks
Is it even a Christmas party if it doesn’t involve a tipple or two? Stock up on wine and champagne, or liqueurs and plenty of mixers for your guests to help themselves to – having lemonade and soda to hand will keep any non-drinkers happy too. To add some extra festive flair, serve warm drinks such as mulled wine or hot spiced cider.
- Cook what you know
Keep the food simple and stick to the dishes that you know you’re good at. While that’s cooking, put out some small grazing snacks for guests to nibble on whilst they wait and remember to consider any of your guests allergies or dietary requirements.
- Sort a party playlist
Nothing sets the mood like good party music. Consider a playlist that is appropriate for the setting, think low volume jazz for drinks and dinner, or upbeat party tunes to get the guests dancing.
- And enjoy…
Your role as the host is to make your guests feel happy and relaxed throughout the night. This will be a lot easier if you’re feeling the same way. The hard work is complete so all you have left to do is unwind and enjoy the experience.
